There were sobs of relief and shouts of joy in many American and Canadian homes when “All is well” messages were relayed today by JWB from their Israeli soldier sons and fathers.
JWB, the central service agency for the Jewish Community Center movement of North America, telephoned the “good news” as part of a joint project of JWB and the Association of Americans and Canadians in Israel.
Asher Tarmon, director of the JWB Israel Office in Jerusalem, cabled the names of olim called up in the current Lebanon conflicts. He also supplied the names, relationship and telephone number of family members in the U.S. and Canada. More messages will be relayed by JWB as they are received from AACI, Tarmon said. The contacts covered a wide range of emotional reaction as well as abroad span of North American geography. Frank F. Wundohl, JWB director of communications, made the calls.
