The National Conference of the Ladies Auxiliary of Jewish War Veterans, which held its annual meeting here, decided to extend its National Award to Israel’s Premier Golda Meir. The award was extended at the national banquet held last week-end by the National President, Mrs. Freida Alexander, to the Representative of Israel to the Southeastern Region of the United States, Consul General Moshe Gilboa, who accepted on Mrs. Golda Meir’s behalf. The inscription on the plaque read, in part: “To the Honorable Golda Meir. Prime Minister of the State of Israel, woman of valor, courage, and wisdom.” Mr. Gilboa, who was the main speaker at the Israel session of the JWV convention, emphasized that Israel has demonstrated its sincere desire to exhaust all chances offered by the recent U.S. peace proposal, despite the great risks it embodies for its security and the maintenance of the balance of power in the Middle East.
