The national policy committee of the Jewish War Veterans, meeting here at its 78th annual national convention today recommended that its membership and friends institute an immediate boycott of the products of Standard Oil of California and its subsidiaries.
The JWV issued a statement saying that the letter to stockholder issued July 26 was “nothing more than a cynical and self-serving attempt to urge its stockholders to use the tools of Arab oil blackmail to subvert the existing foreign policy of the United States in the Middle East.”
Continuing, the statement said: “In a blatant attempt to place the business interest of Standard Oil of California above the national interest of the United States in the Middle East, the company has in the opinion of JWV, abdicated its right to the patronage of Americans who fought and died for the principles of a free people making free decisions above petty selfish business interests.”
