Kansas City’s drive to raise its 1928 quota of $30,000 for the United Palestine Appeal was launched Sunday night. Maurice Samuel was the principal speaker at the dinner inaugurating the campaign.
Pledges amounting to $75,000 have already been announced, among them $10,000 from Sigmund Harzfeld. Frank C. Niles, a prominent non-Jew, has contributed $500.
Jacob A. Harzfeld is general chairman of the campaign. The drive will be concluded with a mass meeting on Thursday evening when Dr. Weizmann is expected to arrive in this city.
