A decision on what day of the week is the Sabbath day. as named in the Kansas laws, will be made soon when Lewis Linx goes on trial charged with violation of the law prohibiting motion pictures on the Sabbath.
Linx, a Jew, operated his theater last Sunday and aroused the indignation of the local ministers’ alliance.
It is Linx’s contention that he did not violate the State law in that the statute declares that showing of motion pictures on “the Sabbath shall be prohibited.” Linx declares his Sabbath day is Saturday, and that as all the employees of his theaters are either of the Jewish faith or are Seventh Day Adventists they did not violate the law.
The District Court at Winfield will be called upon to decide whether Linx can be prosecuted.
Rabbi Gustav N. Nausman left for Europe yesterday on the Deutschland, to return by September 1st.
