With the exception of Borough Park, the Kashruth Association today completely controls the rabbinical supervision of poultry markets throughout the city, Rabbi Nachman H. Ebin, chairman of the association, reported yesterday before 300 rabbi and laymen members at a convention in the Hotel Pennsylvania.
In a financial report covering the period from November 5, 1934, to February 1, 1935, Rabbi Ebin, who is also treasurer, announced that the association has netted $1,796.50 profit.
Digressing from his prepared statement in which he praised the “unity” of the rabbinate, Rabbi Ebin scored the Live Poultry Code Authority for attempting to bring attachers of Kashruth Association poultry leg-bands under the code minimum wage requirements. He said the attachers are engaged in religious work and should not be bound by a minimum wage.
