Bernard Katzen, special consultant to the State Department, has been chosen to receive the Theodore R. McKeldin Prize of the America-Israel Society for outstanding promotion of cultural relations between America and Israel, it was announced today by the Very Rev. James A. Pike, Dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, president of the New York Chapter of the organization.
“Mr. Katzen,” Dean Pike explained, is being awarded the McKeldin Prize “in recognition of his distinguished work as Special Consultant to the Secretary of State, John Foster Dulles, in preparing a plan, enacted into law by the Congress and President of the United States, for the distribution of 7,000,00 Israeli pounds ($3,525,000) accrued to the United States account under the Informational Media Guaranty Program to the benefit of many projects in Israel in the fields of education, culture, science and the humanities. This money is now being disbursed in Israel.
