Abraham L. Freedman, former president of the combined Federation of Jewish Charities and Allied Jewish Appeal, is to be nominated to the United States District Court here by President Kennedy, it was revealed today. Mr. Freedman’s nomination to the judgeship has been approved by the Department of Justice.
Mr. Freedman is now on the board of directors and the executive committee of the Federation. He has also served as president of the Jewish Community Relations Council, vice-president of the Philadelphia Commission and the Community Chest, and as a board member of the United Fund, the Home for the Jewish Aged and the Jewish Publication Society. An attorney and former City Solicitor, Mr. Freedman is also a member of the board of directors of the Jewish Exponent, local English-Jewish publication.
