Solomon Jacobson, a Jewish watchman, 18 years old, was sentenced today to seven-and-a-half years imprisonment for killing an Arab in self defense.
Jacobson has been under arrest since last November, when the incident causing his arrest took place. He was patrolling property belonging to the Jewish National Fund when a group of Arabs descended upon a quarry in Jacobson’s beat in the Haifa Bay area with the intention of stealing some of the stones lying about.
When he attempted to stop the A### Jacobson was attacked by A### badly injured. In defe### himself he fired his rifle, K### one of the Arabs.
###sh circles here are greatly ex### over a number of attacks on Jews which occurred yesterday and in which five Jews were wounded. A number of Arabs have been arrested as a result of these attacks.
The first attack occurred in a village near the Jewish colony Nahalal. A group of Bedouins seriously wounded a Jewish watchman there. The other attack was reported from the neighborhood of Tel Mond, a Jewish colony named after the late Lord Melchett. Four Jewish workers were wounded by Arabs in this attack and two of them, D. Rindman and S. Britanehik, are now in a serious condition in the Hadassah Hospital.
