The Israel-Arab dispute and the Middle East security situation were discussed by Generalissimo Franco and King Feisal of Iraq at a meeting in Madrid yesterday, the Times of London reported today from the Spanish capital.
Col. Gamal Abdel Nasser, Egyptian Premier, is expected to visit Madrid within the year, the Times reported. It noted that for some years now Gen. Franco, who believes that Spain could serve as a link between Islam and the West, has been assiduously cultivating the Arab states. Franco’s concern with Communist influence in the Arab states was heightened, the Times indicated, by Egypt’s surprise recognition of Communist China.
