King Hassan II today received a Jewish delegation for the second time since taking over his late father’s throne this year. The delegation was headed by Grand Rabbi Saul Danan, president of the Supreme Rabbinical Tribunal in Morocco. It presented greetings on the occasion of an Islamic religious feast and received an expression of thanks from the King for the interest shown by Moroccan Jewry.
Meyer Toledano, a Moroccan Jew who is assistant to the director of the Moroccan Ministry of Commerce and Industry, was commissioned today by the Government to study economic development methods in the United States.
He will go to Washington as a guest of the United States Government and remain in the United States for six months. His assignment is to study such American methods with a view as to their usefulness for Moroccan programs. He will also spend a month in Puerto Rico to study that country’s industrial program.
Grand Rabbi Moise Malka was today named by the Minister of Justice to the post of vice-president of the Casablanca Rabbinical Tribunal. Rabbi Malka, 50, is a professor of Hebrew literature at the Institute for Higher Rabbinical Studies in Rabat.
