A proposal to hold municipal elections in this city on Saturdays has been referred to a City Council committee where it is expected to be pigeonholed. Strong protests had been headed by the Canadian Jewish Congress. The proposal, which would have meant that voting would have been held Saturday, December 11, instead of Monday, December 6, was put forward as a matter of “expediency.”
