If the number of men and women who took part in the national parade of the Ku Klux Klan here yesterday is indicative of the numerical strength of the organization, it would appear to be a fact that it is losing strength in the East and parts of the Middle West.
Only three States sent larger delegations than last year, when the first of the Klan demonstrations was held in the national capital. They were New Jersey, Virginia and Florida. Pennsylvania did not have half as many in line as last year, and the same was true of New York, Ohio, Indiana and the New England States. Last year the police estimated the marchers at between 35.000 and 40,000. Yesterday the most liberal estimate was 20,000, and the number actually in line was probably somewhere between 15,000 and that number.
