Anti-Semitic leaders in Hungary were reassured yesterday by Count Klebelsberg, Minister of Education, with regard to the numerus clausus.
The Minister published a reply to the memorandum of the anti-Semitic student Race Purifiers complaining against the recent modifications of the numerus clausus law.
It is not true, the Minister wrote, that the Hungarian government plans to set aside the numerus clausus. As to the modification providing that the numerus clausus is not applicable to baptized Jews, the Minister states that the faculties will inquire into each particular case of a baptized Jewish student applying for admission to the universities, so that the numerus clausus will not be evaded by a mass baptism of Jewish students.
