Philip Klutznick was unanimously confirmed today by the Senate Commerce Committee to be Secretary of Commerce in President Carter’s Cabinet. The full Senate is expected to act on the nomination before it adjourns for the year-end recess. Klutznick appeared before the committee yesterday where he was praised by both Senators from Illinois Democrat Adlai Stevenson, who introduced Klutznick, and Republican Charles Percy. Klutznick, who has taken a leave of absence from his post of president of the World Jewish Congress, has long been prominent. in commerce, finance and real estate development in Chicago.
