The Israel Parliament tonight adopted a budget for the fiscal year totalling 1,470, 000, 000 Israeli pounds. (An Israeli pound is 55. 6 American cents).
Prior to the voting of the budget, Minister of Health Israel Barzilai. told the Parliament that the needs of the new immigrants this year will require an additional budget of 4,500, 000 Israeli pounds. Mordecai Namir, Minister of Labor, reported that the rate of joblessness during 1958 was the lowest in Israel’s history.
Mr. Namir said that while the population of Israel increased during the past three years by 250, 000, the number of unemployed dropped from 39, 000 to 35. 800. He also reported
