Plans for the promotion of all sports and physical training in Israel were adopted here today by a special Knesset committee. They were sponsored jointly by Parliaments Education and Interior Committees.
The plans call for greater Government support of all sports generally, and football particularly; project the establishment of a government school for training football players, referees and sports writers; urge expansion of the Wingate Institute for Physical Training; and recommend the establishment of a network of playing fields.
The sponsors also cited the “danger” of professionals in football, urging that suitable employment be found for football players, so that they might be given the opportunity to practice with their teams. The resolution also urged that players be assured adequate health and national insurance.
Another recommendation envisaged the establishment of a “Sports Fund,” to be derived from charges for all sport event admissions, as well as the creation of a special “Sports Stamp” to be derived from admission charges to movies, concerts and other entertainments.
