The Israel Parliament recessed today in advance of the Passover holidays. The Knesset will meet again on May 9 for its last session before the general elections this summer when deputies will be named to the Third Knesset.
Prior to its recess, the Knesset approved the budget for 1955-56, totalling 631 million Israel pounds. While the budget is based on practically the same revenue sources as that of last year, with out any new direct or indirect taxation, it is expected to show a 30 million pound increase over last year. This is based on a projected increase in efficiency in income tax collections, despite decreases in individual assessments.
