Israel’s Parliament will meet in special session in Jerusalem on July 8, 1964, to memorialize the late Zeev Jabotinsky as the remains of the leading fighter for Jewish statehood will lie in state in the holy city before reburial the next day on Mt. Herzl, according to the cable-dispatch made public here today by the National Committee for the Jabotinsky Memorial headed by Philip M. Klutznick, former U. S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
The remains of the world Zionist leader and founder of the Jewish Legion in World War I will be transferred from New York for reburial in Israel by order of Prime Minister Levi Eshkol on behalf of the Israel Government in keeping with the testament of Mr. Jabotinsky, was died on August 3, 1940 in Hunter, N. Y. that “his remains may not be transferred to Palestine unless by order of that country’s eventual Jewish government.” The remains of Jabotinsky are now interred at the New Montefiore Cemetery, Farming-date, L. I.
Many thousands, including Jewish war veterans, former Jewish Legionnaires, members of Maccabi sports organization, representatives of all Zionist organizations and of the B’nai B’rith as well as Jewish spiritual leaders of all three denominations, will accompany the funeral cortege during the transfer of the remains of Mr. Jabotinsky and his wife on Monday, July 6, 1964, the announcement said.
