Knesset Speaker Yisrael Yeshayahu opened today’s Knesset session by reading a message he had sent on behalf of the Knesset to the Brussels conference. The message expressed “full support for and identification with” the aims and purposes of the conference. The world could not ignore the cry “Let My People Go,” Yeshayahu wrote, especially after all that had happened to the Jewish people. The issue was unrelated to the Soviet system of government, he stressed. He hoped the Kremlin would turn a sympathetic car to the expressions of solidarity by world Jewry and men of goodwill.
