The bill on the status of the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency which the government re-submitted to the Israel Parliament, will probably not be taken up by the Parliament prior to its recess which starts next week. The agenda for this week does not include the bill.
The Parliament today extended the term of Acting President of Israel Joseph Sprinzak, in view of the fact that President Chaim Weitzman is not able as yet to perform the duties of his office. The Communist delegates constituted the only group that voted against the extension of Mr. Sprinzak’s term of office. The pro-Communist Mapam party abstained from voting, declaring that they abstained because Mr. Sprinzak “recently abandoned his impartiality towards the Mapam party.
