Knighthood was conferred upon Benjamin Arthur Cohen, K.C., son of the late Rt. Hon. Arthur Cohen, who was for many years president of the Board of Jewish Deputies to which post he succeeded his uncle, Sir Moses Montefiore.
In the honors announced Lord Plumer, former High Commissioner of Palestine, was raised to a Viscountship. A number of Palestine officials received honors, but no Jews were included. Bishara Saig, assistant superintendent of the Palestine police, an Arab, and Habib Khuri, vice-principal of the Arab Government College, were given the honorary M. B. E. (member of the British Empire.)
