Rep. Edward Koch (D.NY) has urged President Carter to change the date of his CBS radio talk show to enable Sabbath observers to participate. Koch was referring to an announcement earlier this month that Carter would answer questions from callers on the CBS program. “Ask President Carter,” on March 5 which is a Saturday. While applauding the President’s intent to be accessible to the nation by instituting this program, Koch called the President’s attention to the fact that his current plans would “exclude a substantial part of the American public from this historic event.” He noted that Orthodox Jews. Seventh Day Adventists and Seventh Day Baptists all observe Saturday as their Sabbath.
