Kofi Annan promised that the United Nations would issue a daily report about deaths in refugee camps in Sudan’s Darfur region. The U.N. secretary-general made the pledge in a meeting Wednesday in New York with interfaith leaders, including Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel; Ruth Messinger, president of the American Jewish World Service; Hannah Rosenthal, executive director of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs; and Sara Bloomfield, director of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
