Kofi Annan’s office chided Iranian officials for an exhibit of cartoons questioning the Holocaust. Commenting on the Holocaust exhibit, Annan’s spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, told JTA that the U.N. secretary-general has made clear in past conversations with Iranian officials that while he supports free speech, “people need to exercise that right responsibly and not use it as a pretext for incitement, hatred or for insulting beliefs of any community.”
