Last night’s action on the part of the executive board followed a recommendation by a committee, formed to investigate the advisability of a sympathy strike. A statement given out by the committee follows in part:
“More than $500,000 worth of kosher meats is bought and sold in Greater New York each week Much of this is now bought fr### the ‘Big Four’ packers, aga### whom the strike is in progress. ### is the decision of the committee that this group be boycotted her# after and that meats be bought from unionized packing houses.
“This boycott response has been great on the part of proprietors. It is a worthy substitute for a sympathy strike, which would be in violation of the union’s contracts with shop owners. These agreements do not expire until October of this year.”
