Kosher Board Bans Big Four Packers

Last night’s action on the part of the executive board followed a recommendation by a committee, formed to investigate the advisability of a sympathy strike. A statement given out by the committee follows in part:

“More than $500,000 worth of kosher meats is bought and sold in Greater New York each week Much of this is now bought fr### the ‘Big Four’ packers, aga### whom the strike is in progress. ### is the decision of the committee that this group be boycotted her# after and that meats be bought from unionized packing houses.

“This boycott response has been great on the part of proprietors. It is a worthy substitute for a sympathy strike, which would be in violation of the union’s contracts with shop owners. These agreements do not expire until October of this year.”

NINTH STREET TEMPLE FETE

The forty-eighth annual dinner-dance of the Ninth Street Temple of Brooklyn will take place on the night of June 17, at the Half Moon Hotel, Coney Island. Speakers will include Rabbi B. {SPAN}Leo###{/SPAN} Hurwitz, Supreme Court Justice Mitchell May and Nathan L. Gold stein, president of the congregation.
