Kurt Franz, former commandant of the Treblinka death camp, filed an appeal today from his conviction and life sentence for participating in the mass murders at the camp. He was the only one of the 10 former SS officers and guards at the camp to plead not guilty during the ten-month trial which ended in August. He was sentenced on September 3.
