Edvard Kuznetzov, a central figure in the first Leningrad trial who was sentenced to death and then had the sentence commuted to life imprisonment, has been transferred to a solitary confinement cell in the notorious Potma prisoner camp No. 10 in central Mordovia, it was reported here today. The information came via a telephone conversation with an unidentified source in Moscow. Kuznetzov was said to have been placed in a small cell in the camp which is infamous for its treatment of its inmates. No one is permitted to visit Kuznetzov. The prisoner’s mother was reported to have suffered a nervous breakdown and placed under care.
