About 1,000 members of the Canadian Congress of Labor, holding their 14th annual convention here, urged the Canadian Government to use its good offices to bring about a “negotiated peaceful settlement of the conflicts between the democratic republic of Israel and the neighboring states of the Middle East.”
After hearing a message of greeting from the Histadrut in Israel, brought by Moshe Eskolsky, the convention adopted a resolution expressing the CCL’s “continued friendship for and support of Histadrut in its dedicated task of organizing and raising the living standards of the workers of Israel, thus benefiting the nation as a whole.”
The convention took note of “the tragic conflicts between the young democratic State of Israel and the neighboring states of the Middle East, endangering regional security and constituting an unhappy threat to world peace.” It urged the Canadian Government to “seek the establishment of harmonious relations in the Middle East.”
