Incensed by disruption of the German trade union movement and by “conclusive and shocking” evidence of “cruel treatment” accorded Jews and union members in the Reich, the Central Trades and Labor Council of Greater New York and Vicinity Friday announced it had passed a resolution adopting a boycott against German-made goods and German service.
This action was in accord with a request issued by William Green president of the American Federation of Labor, to carry out the boycott recommendations of the recent Federation convention in Washington.
Contained in the resolution is a clause to the effect that the boycott is to continue until the German government recognizes the right of German workers to organize into independent trade unions and until Germany ceases its “repressive policy of persecution of Jewish people.”
