The members of these regiments will be recruited from the 20,000 young members of the Mapai. They will act as instructors in new settlements and among immigrants with a view to directing them toward agricultural work. The women members of the regiments will be engaged mainly in social welfare work. Recruitment for the first regiment will be started mainly in social welfare work. Recruitment for the first regiment will be started shortly.
Eighteen new settlements were established during April, five of them by members of pioneer youth groups and 13 by new immigrants, it was reported today. Work will soon begin on a network of roads connecting the Jerusalem corridor settlements with the main Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway.
