A resolution urging the British Government to exert its influence in the Middle East to achieve a friendly settlement between the Arab States and Israel and stressing the vital need to exert maximum practical aid to the new state was unanimously adopted last night at the annual conference of the British Labor Party at Morecambe.
The resolution was introduced by Dr. S.A. Miller, representative of the Poale Zion, and was supported by James Griffiths, former Colonial Secretary, who told the conference that “we will do all we can to help promote peace between Israel and her neighbors.” He added that “we realize the hard task Israel has to build a new state with all the difficulties she has to encounter.” He urged Dr. Miller to convey a message of goodwill to the State of Israel and the Israel labor movement on behalf of the conference.
