A dinner to Governor Lehman to felicitate him upon his appointment by President Roosevelt as Director of Foreign Relief and Rehabilitation Operations will be tendered by the trade unions of New York under the auspices of the Labor Division of the American ORT Federation, it was announced here today by Adolph Held, chairman.
Vice-President Wallace’s views on Lehman’s new mission will be made public at the dinner which is to take place on January 31 at the Hotel Commodore. Governor Lehman will deliver an address. The speakers will include William Green, president of the American Federation of Labor, James B. Carey, secretary of the C.I.O., David Dubinsky, prominent Jewish labor leader and others. “The dinner, sponsored by all Trade Unions of the City and State of New York, will serve as an occasion for Labor to express its appreciation for the great services which Governor Lehman has rendered to the people of the State of New York during his 14 years of administration,” Mr. Held stated.
