A three-day convention of the National Committee for Labor Palestine currently engaged in raising $10,000,000 in this country for the Histadruth in Israel opened at the Hotel New Yorker here today with delegates from all parts of the country in attendance. The delegates are expected to present to the convention $1,000,000 for immediate transmission to the Histadruth.
Hayim Greenberg, member of the World Zionist executive, and T.O. Thackery, coeditor of the New York Post, were among the principal speakers today. Isaac Hamlin, national secretary of the Histadruth campaign, addressing the delegates, haled the support given to the Jewish state by the American Federation of Labor and the C.I.O. The convention will be addressed by Eliahu Epstein, Israeli representative to the united States: Berl Locker, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive in Jerusalem; Isaac Ben Zvi, president of the Jewish National Council in Israel, and Eliahu Dobkin, immigration director of the Jewish Agency.
