Citing a lack of evidence, a Jerusalem court this week rejected a Labor Party appeal of the outcome of the May 29 national elections.
The court said there was no evidence to back the party’s contention that a nationwide recount would show different results.
Raanan Cohen, chairman of the Labor faction in the Knesset, brought the petition before the Jerusalem District Court. He said a sample check of 60 ballot boxes uncovered massive irregularities.
But after a recheck of the same boxes, Tami Edri of the Central Elections Committee rebutted those claims.
The court ruled that irregularities in the recent elections were characteristic of any election.
The judges added that human error was unavoidable and that such mistakes could also occur during a recount.
