The Talmudical Institute of Harlem, after twenty years of service to Harlem Jewry, has been forced to close its doors to some 200 pupils because of lack of funds. Max Kaufman, secretary of the school, claims that only twenty of the pupils have been paying their tuition fee of $3.00 per month, the rest, who come from families of moderate circumstances, have been unable to pay.

“I appeal to the public to help us.” Mr. Kaufman said. “In the past our directors have made up whatever losses we sustained but this year business conditions will not permit.” The sixteen teachers of the five months, and in order to resume classes, $10,000 will be needed.
