Mayor LaGuardia will be the principal speaker at the fourth annual luncheon of the Women’s Division of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities, which will be held on April 11 at Hotel St George, it was announces at the division’s meeting held Friday at the hotel.
Supreme Court Justice Mitchell May, president of the Federation, who addressed the meeting, exhorted his audience to make certain the attendance of 1,000 at the annual affair, which is expected to yield $10,000 toward the $15,000 quota of the Women’s Division in the Federation’s $500,000 drive. Dr. J. J. Schwartz, executive director of the Federation, urged vigorous activity by campaign workers to prevent the curtailment of charities in the borough.
Among guests of honor on April 11 will be the following: Mrs. Herbert Lehman, Mrs. David Goldfarb, Magistrate Anna M. Kross, Presiding Justice Edward Lazansky of the Appellate Division, Justice May, Dr. Schwartz, County Judge Algeron I. Nova, Faith Baldwin, Irving P. Kartell of the Junior Federation, and Mrs. Raymond V. Ingersoll.
Mrs. Clarence G. Bacharach presided at the Friday meeting.
County Judge Algeron I. Nova, who heads the Federation drive, announced the formation of the Retail. Grocers Division, with a quota of $10,000. David Morsel, president of the Jewish Grocers Association of Greater New York, was chosen chairman, with David Hoffer, Isaac Debrowsky, Nathan Black and Louis Zechnowitz forming the executive committee of the division.
