George Lansbury, noted British pacifist, who died tonight at the age of 81, had expressed the belief that economic conditions were at the root of anti-Semitism. He had advocated loans to Poland and other countries for economic development which, he believed, would check anti-Semitism. He had also urged the establishment of a large international colony to absorb European emigrant. In 1938, Lansbury headed the United Polish Appeal’s special campaign for Jewish deportees from Germany.
