A call for the largest possible orderly emigration of North African Jews despite the easing of the situation there was sounded here by the Foreign Affairs committee of the Board of Deputies of British Jews in a report submitted to a session of the Board today.
The report said that although an agreement has now been reached between France and the Moroccan Sultan, through which internal peace is likely to be restored, and assurances of fair treatment of Moroccan Jews have been given by the Sultan, nevertheless “there is considerable anxiety” as to the possible influence in Morocco of unceasing and violent anti-Israel propaganda emanating from the Arab countries.
The uncertainties of the current situation in Morocco, coupled with unfortunate past experiences in analogous situations, call for “as large an emigration as can be arranged in an organized and ordered manner,” the report emphasized.
