Jordan served a 24-hour ultimatum on Israel today, through the United Nations Truce Organization, threatening action unless Israel surrenders a Jordanian captured in the fighting in Jerusalem today. An urgent complaint was filed with the UN Mixed Armistice Commission.
Charging that an Israeli patrol opened fire in the Arab sector of Jerusalem and abducted a Jordanian, the Jordanian Defense Minister was quoted as stating that Jordan “views seriously” this development and “would meet any Israeli aggression with might and force.
