Rabbi Sidney Tedesche of Union Temple and Rabbi Simon R. Cohen, rabbi emeritus of Union Temple, will officiate at the funeral services this afternoon for Michael Furst, former president of the Brooklyn Bar Association, at the Temple, 17 Eastern parkway.
Mr. Furst, credited with being the oldest practicing lawyer in New York, died of pneumonia at his home, 115 Prospect Park west, at the age of seventy-eight.
Born in Brooklyn of German-Jewish parents, he received his early education at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. He later studied at Yale, from which he was graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1876. Two years later he was awarded an LL.B. degree from Columbia Law School and at the age of twenty-two he was admitted to the New York Bar.
