A 15,000 volume library considered to be one of the most extensive collections on Zionism and Jewish history will be moved shortly from Scarsdale, N.Y. to the Hebrew University library here. The donor was the late Oskar K. Rabinowicz of Scarsdale whose father, Yehuda Arye Rabinowicz, started the collection. A room at the library that will house the collection was dedicated here yesterday in the presence of Hebrew University president Avraham Harman and the donor’s widow.
Mr. Rabinowicz, a banker, author and life-long Zionist, was born in Austria and held a doctorate from the University of Prague. He had been a member of the board and library committee of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, the board of the Jewish Publication Society of America and a member of the council of the American-Israel Cultural Foundation. Among his books were “Fifty Years of Zionism”, “Winston Churchill on Jewish Problems”, and “Herzl, Architect of the Balfour Declaration.”
