Daniel P. Moynihan, United States Ambassador to the United Nations, submitted his resignation today to President Ford. There was no immediate comment from the White House. Moynihan’s resignation came less than a week after disclosure of a letter he sent to Secretary of State Henry A, Kissinger accusing State Department personnel of failing to support his controversial “hard line” against the anti-U.S. voting bloc at the UN. Ford and Kissinger subsequently affirmed their full confidence in Moynihan. The envoy had been an outspoken critic of Third World nations, the Soviet Union and Arab states while at the UN. He was also a resolute defender of Israel and spoke out sharply against the General Assembly resolution which equated Zionism with racism.
