Israeli Foreign Minister Yitzhak Shamir concluded three days of talks with Secretary of State George Shultz Tuesday afternoon by saying that he was taking “some new Ideas” back to Israel with him. He refused to give any details of what these ideas are, saying that they would first have to be considered by the Israel Cabinet. Shamir, whose last meeting with Shultz lasted for 90 minutes, said there was a closer “identity” between the U.S. and Israel on the issues of safeguarding northern Israel from terrorist attacks from south Lebanon. Shamir seemed to indicate that Israel may have abandoned the idea of having military out-posts in Lebanon.
