Britain “Sold Out” Jews to Appease Arabs, Brodetsky Charges
Charges that Britain has “sold out” the Jews in Palestine in an attempt to appease the Arabs and gain the support of Moslem states in the event of war were made today by Prof. Selig Brodetsky, head of the Zionist Executive political department in London, at the conference of the British Zionist Federation. Members of Parliament of all parties, he added, will be “shocked to find that sacred pledges” have been broken to appease the Arab states.
“I fell that in the party debate which follows (publication of the White Paper) , if the whips were to be taken off and the matter left to a free vote in the House of Commons, the result would be startling in its condemnation of the contemplated policy. I do not believe that the friendship of the Arabs will be bought securely for the British people by policy which is unjust to the Jews. I do not believe that Arab states like Egypt will, in the case of world war, decide whether they will join Britain or Italy and Germany by the consideration that His Majesty’s Government has let down the Jews in Palestine. These states depend for their safety on Great Britain itself.”
