Private Holmes of the recently-arrived Lincolnshire regiment was killed today when Arabs ambushed a patrol returning from Kakun to Tulkarem. The soldiers replied, killing three Arabs.
Holmes was the eighth British soldier to die at the hands of rebels. A total of approximately 160 Jews, Arabs and Britons have been killed since April 19.
