Latvia awarded its highest honor to the American Jewish Committee’s executive director. Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga presented David Harris with the Order of the Three Stars-Commander Class for his “contribution to facilitating cooperation between the Republic of Latvia and the United States of America,” the group announced in a release Monday. “David Harris is a true friend of humanity, of the Jewish people and of Latvia,” Vike-Freiberga said during the ceremony at the AJCommittee s annual dinner last week.
