Jewish soldiers in the Latvian army will be released from service on Saturdays, according to a resolution adopted by the Latvian parliament yesterday.
The resolution was adopted in the form of an amendment, introduced by the Jewish deputies, giving to the Jewish soldiers an opportunity, during the times of peace, to be relieved from duty on Saturdays. Those Jewish soldiers who observe Saturday will have to serve 21 months as their term in the army instead of 18 months.
