The legal profession of New York will seek to raise $60,000 toward the $1,200,000 quota of the New York United Jewish Appeal for German Jewish refugees, it was announced yesterday at a meeting of thirty leading attorneys at the Lawyers Club, 115 Broadway. Dr. I. Edwin Goldwasser, one of the three chairmen of the New York campaign, spoke.
Other speakers were: Eustace Seligman of Sullivan and Cromwell, who will act as chairman of the lawyers’ division, and Bernard S. Deutsch, president of the Board of Aldermen. The meeting pledged itself to canvass more than 1,200 lawyers. Mr. Deutsch, Mark Eisner, Morris Rothenberg, president of the Zionist Organization of America and co-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, and Carl Sherman, former Attorney General, will act as co-chairmen.
