Lay Cornerstone for Hebrew Teachers’ Seminary in Jerusalem

Impressive ceremonies marked the laying of the cornerstone of the Hebrew Teachers Seminary which is being erected here with the aid of a fund raised in the United States by Dr. David Yellin. Julius Rosenwald, American Jewish philanthropist of Chicago, contributed the amount of $75,000 toward the fund.

The cornerstone was laid by Col. Robert S. Symes, Acting High Commissioner, and addresses were delivered by Dr. David Yellin, head of the seminary, Mr. Keith Roach in the name of the Palestine government, W. J. Farred in the name of the Education Department, Col. Frederick H. Kisch of the Zionist Executive and Joseph R. Meyuchas in the name of the Jewish community.

A message of congratulation was received from Julius Rosenwald, largest donor to the fund. Messages were also received from the American University at Beirut and from M. M. Ussishkin, head of the Jewish National Fund.
